Despite Britain’s love affair with the car, buses continue to be a vital form of public transport with research conducted by Experian demonstrating that Britons travel an average of 375 million miles a year on buses, equivalent to four trips to the sun.
However, while operators led by the big bus groups, have invested millions of pounds in new fleets and many local authorities have invested heavily in developing bus routes and encouraging greater bus usage, many Britons remain deeply attached to their car.
